Sad news

Postby Frank N. Peavey » Tue May 28, 2019 10:22 pm

Old timers will remember Cecil (ITOC 05-00067). He passed away today. He has been in poor health for a while now. I was afraid he didn't have much time.

Brother Cecil (C. J. Cumberland) will be missed. He was a very talented musician and an all around great guy.

Too sad. Cecil was a good guy, and certainly too young to go.
RIP

A couple of things I remember about Cecil:
He was descended from the Cumberlands that the Cumberland Gap is named for.

His father drowned in the process of saving the life of Cecil's little girl. Cecil had been going by the name Jamie up until that point, then started using his father's name.

He could sing Sweet Caroline just like Neil Diamond

Ever since then I always remember that ITOC Gathering when I hear that song.

And thanks to Cecil I always find myself picking the riff to Fast As You when I pick up a guitar.

The Big Guy Loved his Red Heads and always teased me about that
HE had become a cool DJ and played in a 2 man band
2 Chords and the Truth I think He is already missed and will be for a long time
like the old Tom T Hall song I remember the year that Claton Delaney Died
The loine they said he got religion at then end and Im glad

Cecil found the Lord and there were many prayers going up for him

Man, that's a bummer. Cecil was always a real nice guy on here.

We were on the road so I even missed the post on Facebook until I saw this. Thanks for letting everyone know, Tony.
